Trip-14s? I'm Going For the 20s...

Can I vent here?

Is this just a man's game? I already know it's a HEAD game. Since when can a male partner lord it over a female partner by telling her BEFORE the game starts what numbers to throw for in 501?

A couple of weeks ago I drew a partner (who has seen me throw before) in a blind draw. This guy assumed he was the only one of us that could shoot the 20's. He actually TOLD me to shoot for the triple 14 for points while he would shoot the 20's! Oh, really!

Call me stubborn, but I decided to shoot MY game MY way. And I kept going for the 20's. Every time I missed, I apologized and told him I was really trying (which I was). He came right back and said "If you were trying you would have hit it." After a few missed shots at the 20's I quit talking to my "partner".

Did I subconsciously miss every time? I don't know. I just felt like the vote of UNconfidence on the part of my partner messed up my head from the get-go and I just couldn't recover.

Needless to say, we didn't win a single game. If I ever get this egomaniac for a partner again, I think I'll just do what I did the first time - play my game - but keep him from messing with my head, too.
