And In Conclusion...
I am humbled that a man and darter of John's caliber would spend the amount of time that he did with this interview. He was articulate and generous with his time and energies for this interview. His replies were thoughtful and insightful. I couldn't have asked for more!
Here's some of what I've learned about John Lowe: First off, he's a sports legend as well as a dart legend. That speaks for itself. Today, he is still a dart legend, a major competitor and a top ranked world player. The sport of darts is friends to no one in respect to honoring what you've done - it's what you're doing today. If you aren't a winner today, then you aren't going to remain on top of the world as a professional darter. If you aren't winning, then you are not going to be paid and it's as simple as that. Today, John proves day in and day out that he is a major competitor and a force to be reckoned with. He is, indeed, a winner and one of the best darters in the world, period.
Next, he is a man of character and values the important things in life such as family, friends, the people he admires (both darters and people in general), and the life lessons that he has learned along the way.
He is not arrogant as some great players are, but proud and confident in his abilities, his goals, the path that he is on. One of the questions that I asked John was "What have you done with all the trophies and cups that you have won over the years?". I was curious to know and while John answered most every question that I asked of him, he declined to answer this question. Though he didn't tell me why he didn't answer this, it is my guess that he is a humble man and proud of his accomplishments. He is a man who is confident in himself, his darts, his life and doesn't need to, or care to be a braggart with regard to his trophies. It's not the trophies that are important but the accomplishments and goals that he has set out for himself, and the way that he lives his life.
This interview has been a pleasure from my point of view, and again, I am humbled by the experience. John Lowe is someone we should all know and I am incredibly privileged to have had the honor of interviewing him. There is no finer representative for the sport of darts in the world.
Lastly, thank you to John Lowe for the opportunity to write about you. And special thanks to Dart Players Australia's own Kevin Berlyn for making the introduction for me to John Lowe and making this interview possible. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again from a very humbled, passionate darter.
Don't forget to visit John Lowe's website at www.john-lowe.net. And when you surf by, be sure to drop John a note and tell him the Passionate Darter sent you.
Until next time, good luck and I'll see you at the line.
