My Open E-mail to England's Professional Darter Trina "Golden Girl" Gulliver
Life happens to all of us and we all have our priorities. That said, you seem to be missing in action with regard to email...I hope you'll read and consider my email to you and get back to me.
I am lucky enough to have received copywrite permission from Patrick Chaplin to publish, for the 1st time in the English language, a German interview that had been conducted with you, with Dart Writer/Interviewer Charis Mutschler, of www.Darts1.de. Upon approval from Patrick, I will publish this with a huge splash on my home page at: http://www.thepassionatedarter.com. With over 13,000 hits per month from all over the world, hopefully this will bring you some publicity and maybe some additional book sales. I fully support strong, passionate, competitive and successful woman darters!
Who is the target market for your book? I think, here in the states, that most amateur darters have not heard of you - at least this is my experience. We do not have televised darts in the US - most do not subscribe to Darts World magazine, and few subscribe to the US publication "Bull's Eye News Magazine." That said, few passionate and amateur darters here in the states are not "up" on darts worldwide and have not heard of you. Of course, I am doing my best to change this - and it all starts with an interview with you, and not necessarily a press release from Winmau as was published in Bull's Eye News Magazine.

I find it ironic that you champion for women's darts - yet your own sponsors do not hugely support your book, or have a picture of your book cover where it is for sale on the Red Dragon Darts website. This is just wrong.
I have a few ideas which may or may not appeal to you but they are my ideas and I feel the need to share them with you.
Would you send me some complimentary signed copies of your book that I may donate to local charity tournaments to be auctioned off? This will help get your name out there, and people reading and talking about your book - and getting to know you and your prowess at the line, and the awesome things that you have accomplished. (My address is Sherilyn J. Herkey, 223 David Drive, Streamwood, Illinois 60107 USA.) Other dart book authors such as John Lowe have been gracious enough to provide the same thing to me and I hope that you will contribute as well.)
Simon from Red Dragon Darts asked if I wanted anything from his site, and of course, I requested a set of your signature darts and flights...I cannot wait to receive them.
Here's my next idea: Have you been to the states to compete in the Chicago, Illinois International Windy City Open? Darters attend this event from all over the world including Phil Taylor, Peter Manley, John Part and more. There are no qualifiers to enter any of the events that run from Friday night through Sunday...So, here is my latest brainstorm. Plan to attend this tournament in September of '2009. Bring a stack of your books for sale and to be autographed by you - the Windy City Darter organization, knowing that you will attend will publicize the heck out of this - which is a win-win for you! The next part of this idea is for you to agree to shoot one of the women's doubles events with me as your partner...those who follow you, and those worldwide who are fans of my dart website will clamor to be there to watch us play - and the fact that you are playing partners with an amateur will make the average darter like you even more and want to buy your autographed copy of your book.
Years ago I wrote a letter to pro Paul Lim asking him to shoot mixed-doubles in a tournament with me and he was gracious enough to agree. All '501, he opened with a Ton40, I stepped up to the line and shot a Ton40 as well. I shot my first Ton80 in competition that day...
I am competitive, passionate about darts and always play to win. To be your partner, would be a dream.
I hope that you consider this. In the end this is a win-win for you and your book sales.
Hopefully, I'll hear back from you. Relationships and partnerships come in the least likely of places so you never know where this might lead. Thank you much for your consideration. Take care, travel safe, and shoot well.
Yours truly,
Sherilyn J. Herkey
