Memories of Maxfield's...

An E-mail from darter Mark LeRette:

My wife and I used to play Nickel for Maxfield's in the mid-90's. I remember Ed DeBehnke from many a Maxfield's tournament. We quit playing after we moved to Johnsburg in December, 1995.

We live in Iowa now, and good luck finding steel tip out here. The board in my house might be the only one within a 20 mile radius of Iowa City.

However, after 8 1/2 years of retirement, I played in Arachnid's Eastern Iowa Invitational (Plastic tips) in Davenport in March, 2004, and took 5th/6th in Men's singles. I joined a plastic league this fall and play for Gus' #2 at Gus' Bar and Grill in Coralville, IA.

After a shaky start I've found my old groove, and it brings back memories of Maxfield's and Windy City Cups and Invitationals past. It doesn't compare to the days of holding those steel tips in my hand, but it still feels good to be back in the saddle again.

I've book marked your site, what a great drive down memory lane!
