Mixed-Doubles Event: And Here Is...

I was at a steel-tip state tournament with a group of friends and planned to enter the mixed doubles event with my good friend Thomas. We were sitting at one of the center tables when the announcer called "Last call for mixed-double entries...". I turned to Thomas and asked if we were registered yet. "Nope." So, I said "C'mon, let's go register". Thomas said he would take care of it and just to sit tight. That was fine with me, I was quite content just to relax before the match.

About twenty minutes later they started calling the matches for the mixed-doubles event. The tournament hall quieted down so darters could listen up. A few matches were called...And then, on board 12, a match was called against "John Holmes and Linda Lovelace". They're the supposedly well-known for being well-endowed porn stars (that's Linda Lovelace of Deep Throat fame...or so I'm told - lol). The whole tournament hall erupted in laughter! When the announcer finished calling the first round of matches Thomas turned to me and said "Let's go, we're up". "But we weren't called...", I replied. Turns out Thomas (having his own keen sense of humor) had entered us into the mixed doubles event as "John Holmes and Linda Lovelace". Well, we lost in the first round but I gotta tell you, we had lots of darters stop by to watch so they could see exactly what John Holmes and Linda Lovelace looked like up close and personal. Now if we had actually placed in that event, would Bullseye News have printed "John Holmes and Linda Lovelace" in the tournament results? I guess we'll never know...
